Halloween 2010

I decided this year our costumes were going to have a theme.... So I had to start brain storming. Well I came up with the idea of having Colton be a hot dog and mommy and daddy would be ketchup and mustard. My boss helped me make the hot dog costume with help from my mom in the finishing touches. I then had to get to work on Will's and my costume. This is how they turned out. Pretty good I think. Colton wasn't really a fan of wearing it so it didn't last long...

We carved pumpkins a few days before Halloween. All three of these pumpkins I grew in my own backyard... Colton would go out during the summer and pet his pummies (his word for pumkins). He sure loved them!I think they might have gotten bigger if it wasn't for the summer hail storm that destroyed ALL of the leaves on the vines. Poor plants! But they were still good size and they only cost the price of the seed so I won't complain. Colton didn't like touching the insides of the pumpkins but had no problem helping daddy carve them! They turned out very cute and Colton was very proud of them.

We had our annual Halloween party at my mom's house on the Friday before Halloween. The kids had fun decorating pumpkin plates and then helping people carve their pumpkins. We had yummy soup for dinner and then visited while the kids played together.

Trick or treating was short and sweet since it was raining and was cold. Will took him around our street while I manned our house. By the second or third house Colton had it all figured out and didn't want to stop. He would say "trick or treat" "thank you" and "bye bye" to every house he stopped at. Can't wait for next year. Every year that he gets older gets to be more fun! Although I know I will miss him being this small I LOVE watching him grow!

Colton's 2nd Birthday

I can hardly believe that I have 2 year old now but he had a great birthday. He went to Aunt Emily's while mom went to work. He had some cupcakes and made some monsters out of construction paper and googly eyes. We had a yummy dinner followed by cake. We taught Colton how to blow out candles and I think that was his favorite part. Presents were next but we didn't wrap it... not that he cared. We got him a little race track with cars. He really likes it and he actually still plays with it so it was a smart purchase. Happy Birthday Baby Boy!

4th of July

To celebrate the Fourth of July we had a BBQ at Mom's house. But what is a summer BBQ with out a water balloon fight? Linda, Mom and I filled up about 100 balloons and the kids could hardly wait to get started but first they had to eat dinner. Colton thought the water balloons were great. He loved reaching into the bucket and pulling one out and throwing it as hard as he could, not at anyone really because he just liked that they popped when they hit the ground. He did get a little wet while we were filling them because the hose was a little out of control.

After the water fight we let all the kids have some Pops/Snaps. He loved them but couldn't throw them hard enough to always make them crackle so he learned very quickly he could stomp on them. Then that became his favorite thing to do with them.

Linda made some very yummy home made ice cream that were ate before the fireworks began. Before the main firework show we let the kids do sparklers, thankfully with no accidents. There were a lot of kids running around with very hot sticks! They all had a lot of fun though. Carl and Alan rigged up the firework show this year. It worked for some of them but unfortunately they ran out of day light and had to light them the old fashioned way... with a lighter. All in all a very fun day spent with family!

Father's Day

Father's Day was a good day. Colton and I made breakfast and then we got ready for church. Will was lucky and had to speak in church. He was asked to speak about his Dad. It was a very good talk and made me laugh and cry. He talked about his experience of becoming a dad and how great that experience has been for him so far. Emily helped Colton make Will and tie for Father's Day and he proudly wore it. Lots of people thought it was a very cute idea for Father's Day. Colton was very proud of it too! He knew that those were his hand prints and kept touching it with his hands. Happy Father's Day Will. We love you and you are a great Dad!

Mother's Day 2010

Mother's Day was a great day! I just love being a Mom! I have a calling at church and teach in Relief Society. It was my turn to teach on Mother's Day so lets just say I pretty much cried through the whole lesson. It was on the Holy Ghost. Earlier in the week when preparing my lesson I came across something that didn't quite make sense to me and also made me a little concerned. The lesson said this about the Holy Ghost "He can be in only one place at a time, but his influence can be everywhere at the same time." What did that mean?? Did that mean he really wasn't with me all the time? I asked my mom what that meant and what she told me I will never forget. Colton was playing in the other room with the dogs and she said "You are not with Colton but the influence of your love is." Wow, now lets just take that a multiply it by infinity and that is how the Holy Ghost and the love of our Heavenly Father works. Amazing! It made me feel so much better! I also shared that with the ladies when I was teaching and I don't think there was a dry eye in the room. It was one of the best lessons! After church we came home and Will presented me with my Mom's Day gift. A pot filled with beautiful flowers that, yes, are still alive! Emily also helped Colton make me a Mother's Day gift. A small heart shaped pillow with Colton's hand print on it. I will always remember that small hand of his forever. Will made dinner and we enjoyed a nice evening with visiting my mom to tell her Happy Mother's Day.

MMmmm Dirt....

I haven't posted pictures of our house in Taylorsville yet so for those you haven't seen it yet here is what it looks like. I'll post some of the inside eventually. I still haven't decorated much.

We were very blessed to get this great house. The landscaping was already done and it has been really easy to maintain so far. As you can see Colton likes to help pull weeds and have some dirt for a snack.

CHEESE!

Easter 2010

For Easter this year my mom decided to throw a big party for all the grandkids... There were a lot of little ones running around. The men were at the priesthood session so the mom's and kids got to play together. We made socks bunnies and foam picture frame bunnies before going on the Easter egg hunt. Wow was it noisy while they were all searching but all the kids got a lot of eggs. Colton wasn't quite sure what to do at first but as you can see he caught on pretty fast. When the hunt was over all the kids sat on the couch and it got very quiet.... It must have been good candy!

Easter morning at our house we gave Colton another Easter egg hunt with the eggs he got from Gandma's house. I think he liked this game but he was still a little tired and there were a lot of eggs!

Since it was conference weekend and Will's mom was in town we had a big dinner with lots of family and friends. Josh and April brought there kids over to watch the last session before heading to Jen and Drews for dinner. Ryan and Colton became fast friends.

Creative Memories

So, I held a Creative Memories party back in February and at it I bought there story book creator software. Since school is finally done for Weber I now have had some free time to start playing around. Although different from the software I previously had I LOVE this program. It took sometime to figure it out but let me tell you, if I can figure it out anyone can. Anyways, my latest project to scrapbook was the trip to Colorado. Hopefully this software will help me stay caught up so that we can enjoy our photos on something other than our computer screen. Enjoy the pages!

Trip to Colorado

We were able to go to another baby blessing in Colorado this time. It was so great to see Scott, Alisha and Ada again and be able to welcome Brayden to the family. While we were there we did lots of fun activities to keep the kids and the adults entertained and sane.

We went to the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs on Friday. That was a really cool place to visit. It was cold that day but we were determined to see some of the main sites. Colton wanted to walk to entire time so we let him. He was much happier that way.

On Saturday we went on base and went bowling with everyone. It was Colton's first time really bowling and I think he had a great time! Although he didn't win he was one of the top scorers.... helps when you have bumpers! He liked all of the colored bowling balls but hated that he couldn't pick them up because they were too heavy! It was funny!

After bowling, and during nap time, Alisha and I went to the gym. It was great to have someone to go to the gym with. I am sure that if I was able to live closer to Alisha I would be in much better shape. She is a great motivator. After a good dinner we colored eggs. Colton wanted so badly to stick his hands in the dye.... I could only imagine how that would have turned out had I let him. He was very eager to put the eggs in and I would let him just look at them while they were being dyed.

Sunday was the baby blessing. Scott and Alisha have a very nice ward and the baby blessing was so sweet, it almost made me cry. I love sweet little innocent babies! Thank you Scott and Alisha for letting us stay at your home and for all of the good times!
